Moldovan diplomacy head to participate in meeting of foreign affairs ministers from Eastern Partnership

Chisinau, 10 December /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration  Minister Nicu Popescu will participate in a meeting of the foreign affairs ministers of the Eastern Partnership (EaP), due in Brussels on 12 December 2022.

According to the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE), the foreign affairs ministers of the European Union member states and their counterparts from the Eastern Partnership will take part in the ministerial meeting chaired by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.  

In Brussels, the Moldovan diplomacy head will have meetings with EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi, Secretary-General of the European External Action Service Stefano Sannino, the chief adviser on foreign policy issues of the president of the European Council, Simon Mordue,  a member of the office of the European Council’s president, Magdalena Grono, as well as other high-ranking officials of the European Union. 

The discussions within the visit will regard the future of the Eastern Partnership, challenges in terms of security and the consequences triggered by Russia’s war against Ukraine for the entire region. The Moldovan diplomacy head and his interlocutors will also tackle opportunities for the modernization of the defence and security sector.
