Moldovan foreign affairs minister says European integration only way of region's peaceful development

Chisinau, 12 December /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu has met European Commissioner for Neighbourgood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi in Brussels. On this occasion, he told the EU official that Moldova was determined become a future European Union member state, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
According to the deputy PM, the European integration, through the deep, complex and needed reforms, demanded by the Moldovan citizens, was the only way for the region’s peaceful development.
The Moldovan diplomacy head noted that the leadership was relying on the support of the European institutions and EU member states for starting the negotiations on accession to EU, once the recommendations formulated by the European Commission, according to the national action plan adopted, are carried out.
„Me and Mr. Commissioner exchanged opinions on the organization, next year, of the Summit of the European Political Community – an event which we will be hold, in order to consolidate the cooperation on the European continent,’’ Foreign Affairs Minister Nicu Popescu said.
