Moldovan government's secretary general attends international seminar on public services improvement

Chisinau, Dec. 15 /MOLDPRES/- Promotion of local development and improvement of the public services quality in the regions were discussed today at an international seminar on public services in Moldova: water - waste - energy - mobility, held in Chisinau, the government's communication and protocol department has repored.

The event brought together ministers, state secretaries, representatives of local public authorities, experts, diplomats and development partners. Government's Secretary General Igor Talmazan also participated in the opening of the seminar, and spoke about the priority actions on the Government's agenda in the local development, ensuring a genuine dialogue with local public authorities to support the development of localities and the implementation of policies for the benefit of every citizen.

The official also noted the 2023-2030 Public Administration Reform Strategy, which will come with an integrated approach of two reform components - that of central and local public administration.

"An extensive consultative process follows, including on the platform of the Parity Commission, whose activity has been relaunched. We will try to grant more autonomy to local public authorities, so that they are as close as possible to citizens. We have also prepared a lot of draft laws and normative acts, in order to revise the APl attributions, eliminate bureaucratic impediments and give them the opportunity to access more grants and offer financial incentives for civil servants within the APL", Talmazan said.

Talmazan said that the government is going to consider mechanisms for developing incentives for APL, including fiscal and financial ones, as well as mechanisms for implementing regional development projects, so as to ensure the sustainability of inter-municipal cooperation and local development.

The event will be held on 15-16 December. There will be six discussion panels on the priorities and projects of development partners, water and sanitation, waste, energy, transport, inter-community cooperation.
