Chisinau, 31 December /MOLDPRES/ - Message by Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita on the occasion of New Year 2023:
Dear citizens,
We are at the end of a year, during which we have gone through more ordeals. We are everybody tired of worrying news and uncertainty; yet, the winter holidays give us the respite to be with our family and friends, to fill with positive emotions and to focus on what is more important. Many people returned home from abroad, dear people whom we constantly miss. At our nice holiday feasts, we will share with each other the cares and difficulties, but we will also do what we have always done – we will enjoy peace, will be grateful for health, will be proud of the achievements of the children and the people dear to us and, I am sure – we will find strength and optimism in us.
The 2022 year was one of multiple crises: the energy crisis and, the most serious thing, the crises triggered by Russia’s aggression and which hit our economy and security. As a result of these crises, we also faced an increase in prices, which meant a heavy burden for most of us.
By the end of the year, the ordeals to divide us and create chaos in the country came too.
In these conditions, we had a not at all easy task: to maintain peace and unity, to be with the people on such a difficult period and, at the same time, to move forward with the reforms which are to make our state strong, developed, efficient and incorruptible.
In such a year, one cannot do miracles, but I believe that we have managed to lay the foundations of a state in which our children want to remain, to leave in peace, justice and prosperity. A state where each person leads his/her life with dignity and confidence that it will be better tomorrow.
Making the retrospective of this year, I can say with every responsibility that I am proud of my country and especially of our people, no matter where they are. I am proud of the way we united, opened our hearts and homes, of the way we helped our neighbours who flee the unjust war, of the way we shared with them the poor wealth we have.
I want us to preserve the same spirit of unity and solidarity in the next year as well. The government does its utmost to be with the people, with increases of revenues and compensations, with the entrepreneurs, with fiscal stimuli and subsidies and with settlements, with infrastructure projects.
It is important that we are confident that we go in a good direction. This year, our country became state candidate for accession to the European Union. Our place is in the European family and we will do our utmost for this expected and deserved wellbeing to be fully felt by each citizen as soon as possible.
I urge you to be confident both in each other, in future and in the upcoming year. Let us together turn Moldova into the country we want and we deserve!
Счастливого Рождества и светлых праздников рядом с вашими родными и близкими!
Щасливого Різдва да світлих свят з вашими рідними та близькими!
A Happy New Year, good health, achievements, and especially peace!
