Moldovan foreign affairs ministers to visit Estonia, Latvia to deepen dialogue with two states

Chisinau, 3 January /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu on 4-5 January will pay two working visits to Tallinn, Estonia and Riga, Latvia, in order to deepen the bilateral Moldovan-Estonian and Moldovan-Latvian dialogue, discuss the European agenda and up-to-date subjects regionally.      

According to the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE), on 4 January in Tallinn, Minister Nicu Popescu will meet Estonian Foreign Affairs Minister Urmas Reinsalu. The two officials will discuss the bilateral cooperation agenda, the European integration of Moldova, the process of reforms in Moldova, as well as the regional situation in the context of Russia’s unjust war against Ukraine. The two diplomacy heads will also consider ways of strengthening the bilateral relation, especially in the sector of digitalization and cyber security.      

The agendas will also include meetings with Estonia’s Defence Minister Hanno Pevkur, the head of the Estonian parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, Andres Sutt, as well as representatives of the International Centre for Defence and Security, Indrek Kannik și Kristi Raik.        

On 5 January in Riga, Deputy PM Nicu Popescu will have meetings with Latvian Foreign Affairs Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs, Deputy Speaker of Latvia’s Parliament Zanda Kalniņa-Lukaševica, with the participation of the head of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Rihards Kols, the deputy head of the European Affairs Committee, Uģis Rotbergs, as well as with Director of the NATO Strategic Communication Centre of Excellence in Strategic Communication Jānis Sārts.    

On 5 January at 13:30, Foreign Affairs Minister Nicu Popescu and  Edgars Rinkēvičs will give a news conference, which could be watched live on the Facebook page of the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry.   

During the visits to Tallinn and Riga, the Moldovan official will meet representatives of the analytical centres and local journalists.
