Minister of Labor and Social Protection announced resignation

Chisinau, 9 Jan. /MOLDPRES/- Minister of Labor and Social Protection Marcel Spatari submitted a resignation request today. The announcement was made today in a joint press conference with Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița.

Marcel Spatari said he submitted resignation for personal reasons. He presented the most important achievements during his mandate. "I am glad that I was able to contribute to the implementation of several important reforms. Thanks to the mobilization of the team and Mrs. Prime Minister, we managed to support employees during the crisis, we unified the minimum wage in the country and we managed to increase wages in the public sector. I am glad that the reform of the Labor Code, the doubling of the minimum pension, the granting of additional aid to families with low incomes, the protection of victim families and the granting of compensation for energy were approved," said Spatari.

Gavrilița thanked the minister for his activity. "Despite the multiple crises, many important things were achieved during a year and a half. We thank you for being part of the Government's team, for the enormous effort, dedication, integrity and the results achieved", said Gavrilița.

At the same time, the official said that Alexei Buzu was appointed as new Minister of Labor and Social Protection. He is a specialist in public policy management and a consultant in international organizations. "I am determined to continue the initiated reforms. Together with the team, in this mandate we will support young families, develop programs for young people, support people with disabilities, reduce poverty and increase the quality of social services", Alexei Buzu said.

Also, Gavrilița announced that a resignation request was also submitted by her spokesperson Anastasia Taburceanu, citing personal reasons.
