Moldovan newspaperman, writer paid last respects

Chisinau, 12 January /MOLDPRES/ - Newspaperman, writer, Merited Man, holder of the Order of Honour, member of the Moldovan Writers’ Union (USM) Alexandru Donos was paid his last respects today. He died at the age of 92 years on 9 January.

Contacted by MOLDPRES, USM president Teo Chiriac, said Alexandru Donos had been a good publicist, writing quality journalism.

Alexandru Donos was born in the Ciripcau village, Soroca county, on 11 June 1930. He graduated from the Philology Faculty of the Moldovan State University in 1961 and made his editorial debut in 1975. He made researches in archives, including the one of the Intelligence and Security Service and worked out important studies about deported Moldovan writers.

The writer was awarded the Civic Merit medal (1996), Merited Man honorific title (2001), Order of Honour (2010).

Alexandru Donos was buried at the Cemetery on the Armeneasca Street from Chisinau.
