Chisinau, 16 Jan. /MOLDPRES/- Currently, about three out of four transfers from abroad to private people in the Republic of Moldova are made in euros, according to data from the National Bank of Moldova (BNM). The other transfers are mostly made in US dollars.

If in 2015, every fourth transfer was made in Russian rubles, now only 0.1% of remittances are made in this currency.

In total, in the 3rd quarter of 2022, remittances amounted to the equivalent of 491.77 million dollars, compared to 294.01 million dollars in the same period of 2015, states the EU Delegation to Moldova with reference to the BNM data.

According to economic expert Veaceslav Ioniță, in the first 10 months of 2022, remittances reached 1.44 billion dollars, an all-time high. The previous record was set in 2008, when the volume of remittances was $1.4 billion, or $38 million less.
