Fine art exhibition of departed Moldovan artist inaugurated at National Art Museum of Moldova

Chisinau, 25 January /MOLDPRES/ - The National Art Museum of Moldova, in partnership with the Chișinău KSA:K Centre for Contemporary Art, today inaugurated an exhibition titled, Mark Verlan. VERBARIUM – graphic, calligraphy and author texts. The exhibition comprises over 80 works.      

Contacted by MOLDPRES, one of the exhibition’s curators, Lilia Dragnea, said Mark Verlan had been a total artist with a special talent and a well of ideas. He was and remains one of the brightest and most famous artists non-conformists of Moldova’s recent history. His works represent a paradoxical mixture of naïve art, surrealism, conceptualism and postmodernism.      

Mark Verlan (1963-2020), was born in the Cocieri village, eastern Dubasari district. He finished the I. Repin Art College from Chisinau (present Alexandru Plamadeala Fine Arts College) in 1987 and represented Moldova at the Exhibition Blood and Honey from Vienna in 2003 and the Venice Biennial in 2011.     

The exhibition will be opened till 5 February.
