Chisinau, 27 January /MOLDPRES/ - We might witness a tendency of stabilization or even decrease in prices for oil products in 2023, although they are slightly increasing at present. An expert in economic policies at the Viitorul (Future) Institute for Development and Social Initiatives, Veaceslav Ionita, has made statements to this effect. He says that there would not be factors due to lead to the increase in prices for fuels this year.

„This year, most probably, we will witness a stabilization of prices. In the context of the regional crisis, we might have a slight growth in next February; yet, the tendency is that the price for oil products should drop globally. They will decrease in Moldova as well, as the factors dealing with the increase in taxes and the trade margin have exhausted,’’ Ionita noted.

The economist also said that the price of one litre of petrol had increased by 1.22 lei starting from last December till present and was influenced by the excise duty and the value added tax (VAT), trade margin and the average import price. ‘’The petrol’s price would have increased more, but the exchange rate influenced positively. Due to the fact that the Moldovan leu has appreciated against the U.S. dollar in January, we have a saving of 0.20 lei at each litre of petrol purchased,’’ Veaceslav Ionita said.

Referring to the perspectives for 2023, Ionita stressed that the present tendency of increase in the price for oil products on the international market was short-term.

Till the end of this week, the National Energy Regulatory Agency informed about a price of 25.66 lei for one litre of COR 95 petrol, up by 0.08 lei. The diesel’s price will grow by 0.03 lei per one litre and will be sold for 25.23 lei.
