Special rank of major general awarded to deputy director of Moldova's State Protection and Guard Service

Chisinau, 27 January /MOLDPRES/ - The deputy director of the State Protection and Guard Service (SPPS), Vasile Popa, has been awarded the special rank of major general of SPPS. President Maia Sandu signed a decree to this end today. The document will be published in the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial) next week.
Vasile Popa has been holding the office of SPPS deputy director since December 2022. In 2006, he was awarded the Military Merit medal.
At the same time, President Maia Sandu today awarded distinctions to more SPPS employees. Mayor Evghenii Chirsanov and lieutenant-colonel Vladimir Varzari were awarded the order Credință Patriei (Faithfulness to the Motherland), class III, for irreproachable fulfillment of the job duty, contribution to the organization and carrying out of protection and guard measures and high professionalism.
Also, the Military Merit medal was awarded to captain Alexandru Hacina and majors Maxim Schipschi and Pavel Știrbu.
The State Protection and Guard Service of Moldova marks the 31st anniversary of its foundation today.
