Criminal Code to be supplemented with new notions

Chisinau, Feb. 2 /MOLDPRES/- The criminal code will be supplemented with new notions. MPs adopted today a draft law which aims to improve the normative framework in the state security.

According to the authors of the legislative initiative, the need to establish and apply a system of legal and criminal measures for manifestations that undermine the territorial integrity, sovereignty and security of the state emerges from the specifics of the current situation, in the context of ensuring national security.

The document provides for the completion of the Criminal Code with notions, which criminalize the acts related to the crimes of espionage and treason. Thus, the initiation, organization or establishment of illegal information structures on the territory of our country will be penalized. At the same time, persons who will instigate other persons to commit actions that harm the sovereignty, independence, territorial inviolability, state security or defense capacity of the Republic of Moldova will be held criminally liable.

The criminal code will be supplemented with a new crime component, namely the actions committed with the aim of separating a part of the territory of the Republic of Moldova, as well as the distribution of information that incites such actions.
