Moldovan deputy PM has meeting with delegation of French Foreign Affairs Ministry

Chisinau, 9 February /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian has had a meeting with a delegation of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, along with the deputy secretary general for European affairs under the prime minister of France, accompanied by Ambassador of France to Moldova Paul Graham, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.   

The French officials were informed about the current situation in the Transnistrian region and in the formats of Chisinau-Tiraspol dialogue, the position and practical actions of Moldova’s authorities, in order to solve the pressing problems of the residents from both banks of the Dniester river, the efforts undertaken jointly with foreign partners to manage multiple crises (of regional energy, economic security, etc.).   

The deputy PM reiterated the firm approaching by the Moldovan authorities, to promote efficient policies of Transnistrian region’s gradual integration into the single national spaces, a peaceful and political settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, in parallel with the process of the region’s disarmament and demilitarization.  

The sides also stressed the need to enhance the EU’s role in the process of negotiations on the Transnistrian settlement, in the light of covering by Moldova of the process of pre-accession to EU and the commitments assumed in this respect.
