National Reading Day marked in Negureni, Telenesti district

Chisinau, Feb. 13 /MOLDPRES/- An event dedicated to the National Reading Day was organized at the library in Negureni village, Telenești district, which was attended by MPs Iulia Dascălu and Angela Munteanu-Pojoga.

According to the parliament's communication and public relations department, children from the locality organized a literary session, at which they recited poems written by Grigore Vieru and performed songs based on the great poet's lyrics.

"The purpose of the meeting was to encourage reading by paying tribute to the literary heritage left by the poet of our nation. Through such events, we want to defend the status of the book in competition with the new technologies, which are taking up more and more of the time and attention of the young generation", said Angela Munteanu-Pojoga.

The event took place in the context of the National Reading Day, which will be marked on February 14, the birthday of the poet Grigore Vieru.
