Tenth session of Euronest Parliamentary Assembly to be held in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 14 February /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova will host the tenth session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly (Euronest PA) on 19-221 February.  

According to the parliament’s communication and public relations department, MPs from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, as well as European Parliament members will participate in the event. The lawmakers members of the Euronest Parliamentary  Assembly will take part in this meeting on behalf of the Moldovan government.    

The meetings of the Euronest PA commissions will be held on 19 February. The participants in the meeting of the commission for political affairs, human rights and democracy will discuss the report of the commission on the promotion of governance in public institutions, based on the political dialogue and institutional cooperation, in order to enhance the administrative efficiency and capacity. The MPs will also exchange opinions on the combating of misinformation in the Eastern Partnership countries.       

The commission for economic integration, legal approximation and convergence in the European Union’s policies will consider the report on the economic development and challenges from the capitals of the Eastern Partnership countries on the period following the COVID-19. At the same time, the participants in the meeting will discuss the financing of the needs of redressing and reconstruction of Ukraine, as well as the economic revival of the Eastern Partnership region.      

The participants in the meeting of the commission for energy security will propose for voting the report on the ecological energy transition as response to the current challenges in terms of energy security within the Eastern Partnership, in the context of Russia’s aggression war.   

A meeting of the commission for social affairs, education, culture and civil society will take place also on 19 February and the participants in the event will consider the report of the commission on the compatibility between the EU’s vaccination programmes and the ones of the Eastern Partnership countries.   

The meetings of the commissions will be followed by the informal meetings of the political families and the meeting of the Euronest PA’s standing bureau.

The inauguration of the tenth ordinary session of Euronest PA will be held on 20 February. Attending the event will be Moldova’s leadership. The participants in the discussions with the national delegations and the political groups will tackle subjects on the future of the Eastern Partnership’s policy as a result of Russia’s aggression war against Ukraine and the new regional security context.     

The Euronest Parliamentary Assembly was founded in Brussels in May 2021, when the parliament speakers of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine and the European Union signed the Assembly’s foundation document.
