Chisinau, 16 February /MOLDPRES/ - The members of the new cabinet of ministers today took oath before President Maia Sandu at an official ceremony. In her message for the prime minister and the ministers, the head of state stressed that they had the task to manage the country’s affairs on a quite complicated period, marked by multiple crises. Maia Sandu also said the people’s expectations from the government were high, the presidential press service has reported.
„Moldova must not only resist – it must develop. Our responsibility is to protect the people from the crises which hit our country, as well as invest in the future. The new cabinet’s task is to provide safety to people and put Moldova on a track of reconstruction and development, despite the crises,’’ President Maia Sandu said.
The head of state stressed that the project of Moldova’s development was the accession to the European Union and that only in this way the country can preserve and consolidate the democracy, can speed up the economic growth and improve the residents’ living standards.
„The new government must preserve Moldova in the world of the free countries, where the man’s life matters and where everyone can think and act freely, can edify the life he/she wants. The citizens stay concerned and the cabinet must respond to these concerns in all sectors. I expect the government to communicate openly and directly with the people, clearly inform them about what it is doing,’’ the head of state said.
At the same time, President Maia Sandu repeatedly thanked Natalia Gavrilita and other colleagues who are not in the new cabinet for the extraordinary effort which they had taken during those 18 months of mandate.
