Chisinau, February 19 /MOLDPRES/- In the last two days at the Munich Security Conference,  the head of state had several meetings with counterparts, heads of governments and international organizations.

The presidential press service reported that President Maia Sandu spoke at the discussion panel "Beyond the alliance: partnership for European security", together with Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg, Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen and Sauli Niinistö, President of Finland. The head of state emphasized that the war in the neighboring country is seriously affecting us, even if, thanks to Ukraine that keeps the Russian army away from our borders, we currently have no military risks. The government in Chisinau is working to ensure order in the country and we want to enjoy peace and quiet to continue our reforms.

The head of state said that for us today there is no question of renouncing neutrality, on the other hand, neutrality does not mean that the defense sector should be neglected. Our country must strengthen its defense capability, including the ability to manage hybrid and cyber attacks, propaganda and disinformation.

On Saturday, President Maia Sandu talked to Secretary General of the OSCE Helga Maria Schmid. Moldova relies on OSCE support to maintain calm and stability in the Transnistrian region in this turbulent geopolitical environment.

The head of state also met with other high-ranking European officials.

On the sidelines of the event in Munich, the official also discussed with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada Mélanie Joly about the reform agenda that the new Government will continue, with an emphasis on the justice sector, security, and ensuring public order. The discussions also covered the situation in the Transnistrian region.
