Chisinau, 22 February /MOLDPRES/ - The community centres of Moldova will become independent, will independently establish their legal status, depending on the community’s needs and priorities. The provisions are contained in a new regulation on the work of community centres, approved by the cabinet today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The community centre’s director will selected by contest for a four-year mandate. He/she will be in charge of the institution’s work, register, programme, annual activity report, etc. Also, to ensure the transparency and good management, the regulation is set to create an administrative board of the community centre, which will include representatives of the founder, of the city’s or district’s culture department and one representative on behalf of the civil society in the relevant field of this activity.
The changes come from the increase in salaries for the directors of the community centres, so that the complexity of the office meets the level of remuneration.
There are over 1,218 community centres in Moldova, which are subordinated to local public authorities. According to Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan, so far, the Culture Law has not contained any provision on the community centre.
„Based on the regulation, the community centres will be able to get legal personality, in order to really become community centres, to meet the needs of the community’s culturalization. The community centres will be able to establish partnership relations, including economic ones. Taking into account that these institutions are subordinated to the local public authorities (APL), we want a fruitful cooperation with APL in terms of cultural policies and projects, focused on the community life,’’ Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan said.
