Moldovan PM, EU Ambassador to Moldova discuss European agenda

Chisinau, 23 February /MOLDPRES/ - The government will prioritize, in continuation, the actions necessary for speeding up the process of accession to the European Union. At the same time, the reforms underway in the key sectors for Moldova’s modernization will be implemented with EU’s support. Prime Minister Dorin Recean and EU Ambassador to Moldova Jānis Mažeiks have discussed aspects of the Moldova-EU cooperation, for the carrying out of the country’s European agenda, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The PM stressed the importance of maintaining an active dialogue on subjects of priority interest, including on issues regarding the strengthening of the institutions and consolidating the government’s capacities. Recean noted that the support provided by EU would lead Moldova to the implementation of the national project, the one of accession to the European Union. ‘’We are set with the team to accelerate the European integration process, to capacitate the institutions and carry out the reforms for the benefit of the citizens. At the same time, we must make sure that the reforms we implement are systemic and sustainable,’’ Dorin Recean said.
The prime minister referred to the priorities of the cabinet’s action programme, highlighting the country’s economic development, investments’ attraction and creation of new opportunities for the business environment.
For his part, Ambassador Jānis Mažeiks emphasized the EU’s support in the process of modernization and transformation of Moldova and discussed with the Moldovan official a string of projects implemented with the European Union’s support. In the context, the officials pointed out the importance of the efficient management of the financial assistance received by Moldova, including in order to enhance the country’s energy efficiency.
