Several officials laid flowers at Embassy of Ukraine in Moldova

Chisinau, February 24 /MOLDPRES/- Several officials, as well as ordinary citizens, today laid flowers at the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Moldova, one year after the outbreak of the war in the neighboring state.

The event began with the singing of the national anthems of Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, and later the participants held a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the war.

Attending the event were officials, members of the diplomatic staff accredited in Chisinau, artists, as well as ordinary citizens who commemorated the victims of the Russian invasion in the neighboring state.

Ambassador of Ukraine to Moldova Marko Shevchenko thanked our country for the support given to the Ukrainian citizens who found a refuge from the war in Moldova. At the same time, the diplomat expressed gratitude for the international support given by Ukraine's partners, "which made it stronger".

"Today we commemorate the victims of the brutal war launched by the Russian Federation against Ukraine. We are here to commemorate thousands of people who lost their lives, were injured or had to seek refuge outside Ukraine. We want peace to return to the territory of Ukraine, with the restoration and respect of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the neighboring state, and those who committed war crimes - to bear responsibility. For the Republic of Moldova, it is important to maintain peace and stability, and we will do everything possible to ensure that this happens in the future as well", state secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Vladimir Cuc said.

Head of the EU Delegation to Chisinau Jānis Mažeiks and US Ambassador to our country Kent D. Logsdon came with a message of support for Ukraine.

Today we mark one year since the war in Ukraine started.
