Chisinau, 27 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Wizz Air low-cost air operator will suspend all flights to and from Chisinau as of 14 March 2023. The Civil Aviation Authority (AAC) has confirmed the information.

The Authority was notified by email about the aforementioned decision, with reasons of safety and security in the region invoked. ‘’AAC and the Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry has been in permanent cooperation and discussions with Wizz Air representatives, continuously informing about the procedures enforced, in order to ensure a proper level of aviation safety and security. The decision taken by Wizz Air created uncertainty, taking into account that, on 14 February, the air operator asked for the approval of the schedule of flights for the summer season and today it was approved by AAC,’’ a press release by the Authority reads.

The Civil Aviation Authority noted that the state’s institutions had established that the flights in the national air space can be made in safety and regretted the decision taken by Wizz Air.

AAC stressed that it would undertake all needed actions, in order to ensure the as soon as possible return of this air operator to the Chisinau International Airport, as well as to attract other low-cost air companies.
