Moldovan speaker talked to officials from Irish government

Chisinau, March 1. /MOLDPRES/- Speaker Igor Grosu had meetings on Tuesday in Ireland with Minister of State for European Affairs Peter Burke, and Minister for Public Expenditure, National Development Plan Delivery and Reform Paschal Donohoe, Eurogroup president.

According to the parliament's communication and public relations department, the officials discussed the situation in the region, energy security, as well as our country's desire to advance in the European integration process. "Ireland is a firm supporter of the European integration of the Republic of Moldova and I am sure that we will have all the support to carry out the proposed reforms", he said.

Igor Grosu also approached the grievances of our citizens - the recognition and conversion of driver's licenses, the facilitation of the visa regime with Ireland, reducing roaming charges. Other topics discussed were the attraction of Irish investors in the Republic of Moldova and a more intense cooperation in the commercial field. "We have agreed that, in the shortest possible time, we will identify some specific priorities, such as organizing a forum of business people, expertise on certain reforms and work intensively on their implementation. Ireland is a model of economic development and European integration for the Republic of Moldova and we hope to be able to take over as many of its positive experiences as possible", he said.

Igor Grosu pays an official visit to Ireland on 27 February -1 March at the invitation of his Irish counterpart. The parliamentary delegation includes MPs Radu Marian, Ion Șpac, Victor Spînu and Veaceslav Nigai.
