Chisinau, March 3 /MOLDPRES/- The Republic of Moldova will be included in the Net Zero World Initiative and will cooperate with various institutions in the United States of America to advance in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Minister of Energy Victor Parlicov made the statement, after the meeting with US Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm.
The initiative supports countries to develop and implement practical technical and investment strategies that make the goal of net zero emissions achievable.
Thus, Moldova, along with about 20 other states, will be eligible for scientific cooperation with research laboratories in the USA and for additional funding, including grants and funds for development and technological export. At the same time, our country will have access to the latest technologies in the field.
"Thus, we will be able to apply, test and integrate into the country's energy system technologies that will stimulate the development of the sector. The decision comes in response to our vision to make Moldova a testing ground for the latest technologies in the energy field and our ambition to become climate-neutral along with the European Union", Victor Parlicov said.
The Republic of Moldova previously joined several initiatives aimed at cutting greenhouse gas emissions.
