Chisinau-based library receives donation of books on behalf of Columbia's Consulate

Chisinau, 6 March /MOLDPRES/ - The B.P. Hasdeu Municipal Library from Chisinau today received a donation of books of over 430 titles in the Spanish and Romanian languages, which appeared at a publishing house from Romania. The books are on behalf of Columbia’s Honorary Consulate in Moldova.

According to the library’s director, Mariana Harjevschi, the event was occasioned by the 96th birthday anniversary of Columbian writer, laureate of the Nobel Peace Prize - Gabriel García Márquez.

Contacted by MOLDPRES, writer Ivan Pilchin said that, through his literary and journalism work, Gabriel García Márquez had conveyed us a message of peace and solidarity between nations.

The special guest of this event was Honorary Consul of Columbia in Moldova Ion Comanac.

Pupils from the Theoretical Lyceum Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra from Chisinau participated in the event with a public reading from works by Gabriel García Márquez.
