Chisinau, March 10. /MOLDPRES/- Farmers will have access to a new digital tool to manage climate change risks in the agricultural sector. With the financial support of the German Sparkassenstiftung in Moldova (GSM), part of the Sparkassen financial group, a platform was developed to provide predictability on the agricultural scale, in relation to climate change.

The digital tool was presented yesterday to the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA). The GSM team made a presentation on the functionality of the platform. It has integrated a set of interactive maps, which have indicators about the physical and biological properties of the soil, the nutrients used, the level of moisture in the soil, etc. Simultaneously, the platform will generate solutions to the agricultural community to ensure soil nutrient balance, high productivity and soil health.

Deputy Prime Minister, MAIA head Vladimir Bolea appreciated the involvement of partners in providing support in identifying current needs in the agricultural sector. "The next step we intend to take is the development of a fully functional IACS system. With getting the EU candidate country status, we are obliged to implement the regulations and standards of the European community. This is a requirement to be able to manage European funds according to EU requirements", said Bolea.

The digital tool will be available online both for farmers in the country and for agricultural product/equipment distribution companies, scientific institutions, commercial banks and agricultural consulting companies.
