Moldova's Customs Service receives donation of equipment on behalf of USA, Japan, United Kingdom

Chisinau, 13 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Customs Service today received a donation of equipment on behalf of the governments of the United States, Japan and United Kingdom, through the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Moldova.     

According to the Customs Service, the donation includes computers (operating systems and licences), laptops, electronic security seals, mobile cones for guiding the traffic, video projectors for the training centre, lanterns, as well as generators. The assets are meant for the customs checkpoints for managing the cross-border flow, in the context of the situation in Ukraine and to strengthen the capacities of the training centre.     

At the event, the deputy director of the Customs Service, Nicolae Vutcariov, thanked for the strategic partnership of confidence, the consistent support and the valuable assistance. ‘’We rely, in continuation, on your assistance and support, in the carrying out and implementation of joint projects, aimed at achieving the international customs standards through modernization and digitalization, improvement of the communication, consolidating the capacities and developing the skills of the customs employees,’’ Nicolae Vutcariov said.     

The consignment of equipment is provided within three projects implemented by the International Organization for Migration titled, Emergency response to people hit by the crisis from Ukraine in Moldova, Emergency help for humanitarian assistance in Ukraine and the neighbouring countries and IOM Call – Ukraine and the neighbouring countries.
