New programme on prevention, combating of violence against women to be implemented in Moldova

Chisinau, 20 March /MOLDPRES/ - A new national programme on the prevention and combating of violence against women and domestic violence will be implemented in Moldova. Today, public hearings on this subject were organized the on the Platform of Women MPs.

The new programme will include actions due to regard the commitments taken in the context of the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence. The document was ratified by the parliament in 2021.

Attending the public hearings were representatives of the government, civil society and development partnerships and the discussions were focused on the actions needed, meant to combat and prevent the violence against women.

The cabinet is to approve the national programme on the prevention and combating of violence against women and domestic violence for 2023-2027 on the next period.
