Art of National Shirt exhibition to be presented at three Chisinau-based lyceums

Chisinau, 24 March /MOLDPRES/ - The National Ethnography and Natural History Museum on 27 March -12 May organizes an itinerant exhibition titled, The Art of the National Shirt, at three lyceums from the Moldovan capital: Vasile Alecsandri” (27 March-7 April), Mihai Viteazul (10-21 April) and Spiru Haret (24 April-12 May).
According to the institution’s director, Petru Vicol, the exhibition comprises drawing boards with texts and pictures, which show the history of the national shirt, techniques of manufacturing, ornamental motifs, contemporary communities which sew shirts, etc. The event is dedicated to the 105th anniversary of Bessarabia’s Union with Romania, as well as to the registration of the file, The art of the traditional blouse with embroidery on the shoulder — an element of cultural identity in Romania and the Republic of Moldova, in UNESCO’s Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. ..
The exhibition’s organizers are set to familiarize pupils, teachers and parents with the principal dimensions of this art, recognized in the world as an identity card of the Romanians.
The exhibition will be inaugurated at the Vasile Alecsandri lyceum on 27 March at 10:00.
