Chisinau, March 29. /MOLDPRES/- The Prime Minister  Dorin Recean together with the heads of government of six other states addressed a letter to the big IT companies in which they requested support in the fight against disinformation. The announcement was made today at the beginning of the Government meeting.

The letter was countersigned by heads of government from the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia and Ukraine.

"Since the brutal invasion of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova, along with many other countries, is at the epicenter of an information war. Together with several heads of government of neighboring states, we have addressed an open letter to major IT companies to ask for their support in the fight against disinformation. "Foreign informational manipulation and interference undermines our peace and stability, affects democracy and our course of accession to the European Union," said Dorin Recean.

The letter states that "social networks have become channels for the spread of fake news", "and foreign information manipulation and interference, including disinformation, destabilizes the state, affects democracy and derails the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the EU".

Under these conditions, officials claim that "digital platforms should take concrete measures to prevent the use of their services as tools and means to promote malicious goals."
