Over 30 electricity substations in Moldovan capital affected by strong wind

Chisinau, March 29. /MOLDPRES/- More than 30 electricity supply substations in the capital were affected by the strong wind.

According to the Chisinau City Hall, following the collapse of the trees, several electric wires were broken and the pylons were knocked down. During the day today, employees of REI Municipal Enterprise "Lumteh" are to assess and fix the problems.

At the same time, workers worked throughout the night to restore electricity in several courtyards of the blocks. In order to avoid incidents among citizens, the lighting was not reconnected in certain sectors. These are to be connected throughout the day today after all hazards have been cleared.

Municipal authorities are still assessing the damage caused by the strong winds.

The State Hydrometeorological Service has announced a Yellow Code for wind intensification for today. Thus, on extended areas, intensification of the northwest wind is expected, in gusts of up to 15-18 meters per second.
