Energocom - first to procure natural gas from Romanian Commodities Exchange

Chisinau, March 31. /MOLDPRES/- Energocom bought for the first time from the Romanian Commodities Exchange 24 MWh natural gas for the next day, 1 MWh per hour. The price of one MWh was 240 Romanian lei (the equivalent of 48.82 euros).

The purchase was made to test a new natural gas procurement mechanism and to establish a new logistics chain. The gases are to be resold to Moldovagaz. The price does not include the shipping cost.

According to the interim director of Energocom, Victor Bânzari, the purpose of the action was to diversify natural gas supply sources, in search of accessible sources, as well as to ensure the energy security of the country.

Energocom is currently looking for partners from different countries, in order to make new gas purchases and take advantage of the favorable price situation.

In January-March, the average price of gas delivered by Energocom to Moldovagaz was 1095 dollars per thousand cubic meters (without VAT).
