Novel about Romanian writer launched in Chisinau

Chisinau, 26 April /MOLDPRES/ - A book titled, Iorgu, by a prose writer, literary critic from Bacau, Romania, Adrian Jicu, has been launched at the B.P. Hasdeu Municipal Library from the Moldovan capital.     

Contacted by MOLDPRES, the event’s moderator, Victoria Fonari, said that it was about a novel of artistic biography about the departed Romanian writer, George Bacovia. In the book, the author speaks about Bacovia’s childhood, the appearance of poems and their context, a letter by George Bacovia addressed to minister Spiru Haret, a meeting with King Ferdinand of Romania, his expulsion from lyceum, the meeting with his future wife, Agata, magazine disputes.     

In the context, Adrian Jicu said he was happy that the poetry and life of Bacovia aroused interest here in Chisinau. ‘’Bacovia is loved on both banks of Prut. He is a poet liked by all generations and namely therefore this makes an attractive subject out of him. I explain the invitation to launch my novel in Chisinau in this way as well,’’ the author also said.     

Adrian Jicu is lecturer at the Faculty of Letters of the Vasile Alecsandri University from Bacau and director of the C. Sturdza County Library from the same city. He is PhD in humanistic sciences.
