ELECTIONS IN GAGAUZIA: competition to continue in second round between candidates of Shor Party, Socialist Party

Chisinau, May 1 /MOLDPRES/- The electoral commission of Gagauzia announced this morning the preliminary results of the elections for the position of governor of the autonomy. According to them, the candidates supported by Shor Party and the Socialist Party, Evghenia Guţul and Grigori Uzun, will face each other in the second round of governor elections.
According to the electoral authority in the region, after the first round of elections, the candidates were placed as follows: Evghenia Guţul – 26.5%; Grigori Uzun (26.4%); Victor Petrov (16.2%); Dmitri Croitor (10.4%); Nicolai Dudoglo (9%); Serghei Cimpoieş (5.7%); Mihail Formuzal (3.5%); Serghei Cernev (2.3%).
The most active electoral sector was in the village of Bugeac (73.4%). At the opposite pole is the town of Baurci (49.9%).
More than 57,000 citizens with the right to vote participated in the elections, which constitutes a turnout rate of 57.8 percent.
