We are working to reduce gas prices - PM says

Chisinau, May 2. /MOLDPRES/- The authorities are working to make it possible to reduce natural gas tariffs within a few months at the most. Prime Minister Dorin Recean made the statement today.

"The government has a concern about energy prices. We took the first step and achieved the decrease in electricity tariffs. Now, we are working so that in the next stage - a few months at the most - we will also reduce the gas tariffs. The government is taking the necessary measures. Representatives of Energocom and members of the Government were in Romania, in Greece to explore all the possibilities to purchase gas at cheaper prices. That must lead to lower rates. You have my promise that in the new season we will enter with lower rates", said Dorin Recean.

Currently, household consumers pay a rate of 29.26 lei for a cubic meter of gas. During the cold period of the year, the authorities offered compensation for the payment of natural gas and electricity bills.
