South Moldova Cahul city to receive additional 10-million-euros-worth grant for water, sewerage supply infrastructure

Chisinau, 3 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Cahul municipality will receive a grant worth 10 million euros, in order to extend the water and sewerage supply infrastructure. This will be possible, after the Finance Ministry, Cahul authorities and the Development Bank of Germany (KfW) signed an additional agreement on financing.     

The document will allow co-financing the project titled, Water and sewerage supply in Cahul district. The project is implemented based on a financing and project agreement, concluded by KfW, Moldova and the Cahul city in 2018, according to which KfW provided Moldova with a grant worth 23.5 million euros. 

The project’s goal is to rehabilitate and extend the water and sewerage supply infrastructure in the Cahul district.  

Through this additional financing, the overall budget of the project will total 47.4 million euros of non-refundable assistance, of which 13.9 million euros is the European Union’s contribution. The deadline for the implementation of the grant resources is 30 December 2026.
