Chisinau, May 11 /MOLDPRES/- The government, through the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, together with the representatives of the associations of agricultural producers will monitor once every two days the information about the amount of grain imported from Ukraine. In the event of a massive flow of grains, to the extent that they will no longer be able to be stored in the country's warehouses, the government will intervene to manage the situation in the interest of local producers. The solutions to overcome the existing challenges in the agricultural sector were discussed at a meeting between Prime Minister Dorin Recean and farmers of our country, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

According to the Prime Minister, besides the import monitoring mechanism, the government proposes economic measures to support farmers who have been affected by the high prices for diesel and fertilizers. "We will identify and provide an additional 100 million lei, which will compensate the farmers' expenses for the raw material, and we will continue to identify the necessary financial resources to subsidize the losses. We aim at acting in the interest of all farmers in the Republic of Moldova", said Recean.

For his part, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vladimir Bolea said that a program to subsidize the costs of fertilizers will also be worked out, following the establishment of the quantities used for sowing the surfaces, in the last autumn. "We firmly believe that as a result of these economic measures, cost prices will decrease, and Moldovan farmers who export grain will be more competitive in the current volatile context on the international grain market," said Bolea.

The government hosted an extended meeting, chaired by Recean, with the participation of the largest grain producers, exporters and farmers' associations in the country, to debate the actions of the authorities amid the crisis on the grain market generated by the brutal war of Russian Federation against Ukraine.
