Moldovan, Canadian officials approach bilateral cooperation

Chisinau, May 12. /MOLDPRES/- President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu met Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau in Ottawa on Thursday, the presidential press service has reported.
"We discussed how we can advance bilateral cooperation and jointly defend the values we share. I thanked Prime Minister Trudeau for the Canadian government's firm support for our democratic path," the head of state said.
Maia Sandu spoke with Trudeau about how Canada can help us become stronger and more resilient to the challenges in our region.
"We approached the expertise, training and assistance to develop our defense and national security sector. We thanked the Prime Minister for the help we received last year to better manage the refugee crisis", said the head of state.
Maia Sandu discussed how the problems of the Moldovan diaspora in Canada could be addressed and thanked the Prime Minister for the warm words about our citizens and their work in the host country.
"I also expressed my gratitude for Canada's unconditional support to Ukraine in this brutal war, and the resistance and courage of our neighbors protects us as well," the president said.
