First visit to Moldova by an Austrian parliament speaker

Chisinau, 14 May /MOLDPRES/ - President of Austria’s National Council Wolfgang Sobotka will pay an official visit to Chisinau. This is a first ever visit to Moldova by an Austrian parliament speaker during those 31 years since the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two countries.
According to the parliament’s communication and public relations department, on 16 May, the Austrian speaker will have meetings with the Moldovan leadership –President Maia Sandu, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
At the parliament, the Vienna official will also meet the deputy head of the commission for foreign policy and European integration, Ion Groza, and the members of the group of friendship with Austria.
The agenda of the official visit includes also meetings with the deputy prime ministers, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu and Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Vladimir Bolea, as well as with representatives of the Jewish Community from Moldova and the ones of the Concordia Foundation in Chisinau.
Topical subjects will be tackled during the official visit, among which opportunities of boosting the cooperation between Moldova and Austria, the security situation in the region and the European integration path of Moldova.
