Over seven thousand lease contracts registered at tax body in four months

Chisinau, May 15 /MOLDPRES/- Income tax receipts from private people who lease real estate increased by 40.1% in the first four months of this year, compared to the same period last year. These amounted to 17.2 million lei (860 thousand euros).

According to the State Fiscal Service (SFS), in January-April 2023, 7,332 real estate leasing contracts were registered, or up by 18.5% than in the similar period of 2022.

As a result of the voluntary compliance and information actions, 929 private people who lease real estate were identified during the period. Also, checks were carried out on 147 private people who lease real estate, being additionally calculated basic payments of 321.2 thousand lei to the budget, and applied fine of 11 thousand lei.

According to the legislation, citizens who rent out real estate are obliged to register the lease contracts with the SFS and pay 7% of the income obtained.
