Chisinau, May 18 /MOLDPRES/- 21 May National Assembly will define the European geo-strategic vector of the country and demonstrate the firm will of citizens, several political analysts said. The experts urged citizens to participate massively noting that they will be personally in the PMAN to express their civic position.
Constitutional expert Nicoale Osmochescu said that the meeting is very necessary and maybe even a little overdue. "The idea of European integration of the Republic of Moldova must be rooted. I welcome the initiative to call on citizens to express their civic position as in 1989. Everyone, including the European partners, must know what the position of society is. We want to stop once and for all mercantile speculations that directly threaten national security. At the same time, we must condemn the conflict in Ukraine, which directly affects us", Osmochescu said.
Political analyst Anatol Țăranu claims that the Assembly will mobilize the pro-European segment of society. "This Assembly comes to demonstrate the fact that the majority of citizens want to become part of the European family and support the European path of the country. All the more so because it is increasingly subject to pressure from Russian propaganda. This Assembly will put an end to speculations and demonstrate that our country's European path is irreversible," said Țăranu.
The assembly is imperative so that the population can openly declare their support for the European vector, said analyst Arcadie Barbaroșie.
In early April, President Maia Sandu launched the initiative to convene the European Moldova National Assembly on May 21, in the center of the capital. The assembly is apolitical, all citizens are expected to participate. Pro-European meetings will also take place in 33 other cities abroad.
