European Moldova National Assembly adopts resolution affirming Moldova's aspiration to become EU member

Chisinau, May 21. /MOLDPRES/-European Moldova National Assembly today adopted a resolution affirming the aspiration of the Republic of Moldova to become a full member of the European Union. The resolution was supported by citizens present in the Great National Assembly Square (PMAN).

The resolution was read by artist Andrei Sochircă. Through the document, the citizens requested the political class to amend the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova to definitively and irreversibly establish the country's accession to the European Union; to ensure the initiation of accession negotiations as quickly as possible; to ensure the transposition of European legislation; to prepare civil servants, mayors, the academic environment, business people for joining the EU in order to increase the absorption capacity of European funds for the modernization of the country.

At the same time, the citizens asked the political class to extend the negotiations for the peaceful resolution of the Transnistrian conflict; to join their efforts to improve the standard of living and the modernization of localities at European level; to ensure the interconnection of all infrastructure systems to the European market to exclude any type of blackmail; to strongly condemn the inhumane war started by Russia in Ukraine, which undermines stability in the entire region.

The citizens also appealed to the EU institutions to continue the support given to our country and to accept the Republic of Moldova in the European family, after meeting the conditions of accession.

At the end of the resolution it is mentioned "accession to the EU is the path firmly chosen by the Republic of Moldova".
