Chisinau, 22 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Comrat Court of Appeal today validated the results of the elections of the elected governor (bashkan) of the Gagauz-Yeri Autonomous Territorial Unit, Evghenia Gutul.
The Comrat’s court’s ruling can be appealed at the Supreme Court of Justice during ten days.
Two contenders ran for the position of bashkan at the runoff on 14 May: the candidate of the Shor Party, Evghenia Gutul, for whom 27,376 electors voted or 52.36 per cent of the voters and a representative of the Party of Socialists, Grigori Uzun, who picked up 47.64 per cent of the votes, with 24,913 electors voting for him.
There are more charges of infringements regarding the result of the elections in the Gagauz autonomy. They are noted by the central competent authorities and are still under consideration.
