Apă-Canal Chisinau water supply enterprise receives three electricity generators on behalf of USAID

Chisinau, 24 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Apa-Canal Chisinau stock company has received three electricity generators with an overall capacity of about 880 kW, in order to ensure the reliability of services in the case of disconnections from power supply nationally or in emergency situations.
The donation has a value of 157,000 dollars and was made by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), within the Energy Security in Moldova Project.
„Today I participated in the event of reception of one of the three generators, which is the biggest one, with an energy production capacity of 400 kW. It was placed at the Water Treatment Station, where water is filtered and processed according to the quality parameters and subsequently it is supplied to those over one million consumers from the Chisinau municipality, including the suburbs and the Ialoveni town,’’ the Chisinau general mayor, Ion Ceban said.
The second generator, with a capacity of 160 kW, will be placed at the headquarters of the Apa-Canal Chisinau enterprise and the third one is mobile, with a capacity of 320 kW and will be able to be used if necessary at any of the stock company’s strategic objects.
Presently, about 150,000 cubic metres of drinking water are daily supplied from the Water Treatment Station and the supply source is the Dniester river.
