Moldova's National Commission for European Integration discusses fulfillment of nine recommendations of European Commission

Chisinau, 26 May /MOLDPRES/ - The National Commission for European Integration (CNIE) today held a meeting, chaired by President Maia Sandu. The Commission members assessed the progress made in the carrying out of the action plan on the fulfillment of the nine recommendations, made by the European Commission for giving Moldova the status of country candidate.
According to the presidential press service, among the measures discussions, special emphasis was put on the progress made in the advancement of the reform in justice, combating the high-level corruption and ensuring the media pluralism through combating the concentration of the media property and non-transparent financing of mass media. The commission discussed also how blockages can be overcome, which had led to a delay in the fulfillment of some measures, so that Moldova finishes the implementation of the recommendations in the national action plan on the period set.
At the same time, the participants in the meeting adopted a plan of measures for limiting the excessive influence of the private interests on the economic, political and public life (de-oligarchization); this draft was discussed by the working group for de-oligarchization (about 20 authorities) and consulted with the civil society. The plan’s aims at excluding the normative gaps and practical deficiencies, which led to the use of state’s institutions and resources in the interest of crime rings. The plan also proposes a mechanism of periodical monitoring of the implementation of the measures proposed by public institutions.
The meeting of CNIE will take place in July 2023.
