Chisinau, May 31. /MOLDPRES/- The Pre-Vetting Commission announced today that it has completed the second and last round of public hearings of candidates for the position of member of the Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP). In total, 13 candidates were interviewed, five prosecutor candidates and a civil society representative also participated in the public interview.

Among the topics relevant to the evaluation process, addressed by the Commission members during the hearings, were the source of the financial means used by the candidates to purchase goods and properties, the difference between the income obtained and the expenses incurred, as well as the non-reflection of some aspects in the declarations of assets and interests filed with the National Integrity Authority.

The members of the Commission also addressed questions related to the ethical integrity of the candidates, these parts being examined in closed session, where there was a risk of touching the candidate's private life.

In the following period, the Pre-Vetting Commission will elaborate and approve the evaluation decisions regarding the evaluated candidates. At the same time, starting on May 18, the Commission initiated the evaluation of a new group of nine non-judge candidates for the position of member in the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM), proposed by the Parliament.

18 candidates registered for the competition for the position of member in the CSP, of which 17 are prosecutors from the General Prosecutor's Office, territorial and specialized prosecutor's offices and a representative of civil society. Among them, up to the given moment, one candidate has passed the evaluation, and another 13 candidates are awaiting the decision of the Pre-Vetting Commission. Four CSP candidates did not pass the evaluation on the grounds that they withdrew from the competition or did not submit the mandatory documents required by law within the established terms.
