Moldova president says holding of EPC Summit nearby border with Ukraine proof of strong unity on European continent

Chisinau, 31 May /MOLDPRES/ - The presence of those 50 European political leaders in Bulboaca is a quite clear message that Moldova is not alone. Neither our neighbour Ukraine is alone, which for more than one year and three months has been facing Russia’s barbarian invasion with heroism. President Maia Sandu has made statements to this effect at a news conference held jointly with European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen.     

“The fact that the second meeting of the European Political Community takes place nearby the border with Ukraine is the proof of an ever stronger unity on the European continent. The free countries united, in order to protect a nation’s right to life and freedom. Our citizens also united, in order to be with the Ukrainians and to clearly say that our nations want to live worthily, at home and to decide their fate by themselves,’’ Maia Sandu also said.

The head of state noted that the 1 June was an important day for Moldova and for the country’s friends and partners, who come to Moldova.  

„On 1 June, we will say with pride, Welcome, Europe, to our home! The entire Europe assembles in Bulboaca – a nice village from our country - to discuss about security, energy and a better connected and more prosperous union. It is an honour for us to host the Summit of the European Political Community, in which 50 presidents, prime ministers and high-ranking European Union’s officials participate. Moldova has many friends, who are with us and back us in the aspiration which unites our citizens – to edify a European Moldova at home,’’ Maia Sandu added.
