Moldovan PM discusses with representatives of Farmers' Force Association

Chisinau, 6 June /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin Recean at a today’s meeting discussed measures taken by the cabinet to support the agricultural branch and solutions identified to remove the present hindrances to the development of the sector. Attending the discussions was also Deputy Prime Minister, Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Vladimir Bolea, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.      

The PM said that, to back the farmers hit by the regional economic crisis, the government had additionally earmarked over 533 million lei, of which 433 million lei will be distributed through the mechanism of return of the value added tax (VAT). Recean also said that another 100 million lei would be distributed for the subsidization of the losses registered following the increase in prices for diesel and fertilizers.

„Year after year, the government increases the volume of subsidies provided to the farmers. The cabinet will further back the agricultural branch and the farmers from Moldova and will gradually solve the problems accumulated. It is important that we maintain a constructive dialogue, in order to create a friendly environment for the development of the agricultural sector. The negotiation of a balance between the interests of all citizens is a complex process and the capacity to discuss and make clear-cut and reasonable claims is quite important,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.      

Also, the prime minister said that the government had recently increased by 75 units the number of employees of the Agency of Intervention and Payments for Agriculture (AIPA), so that all premises should be created for speeding up the processing of the applications on subsidies’ disbursement. According to forecasts, till 1 August this year, the cabinet will manage to process and initiate the process of distribution of 9 million lei within support programmes through AIPA.
