DOC National Land Improvements Agency to be set up in Moldova

Chisinau, 26 June /MOLDPRES/ - A National Land Improvements Agency will be set up in Moldova. The government decision on the Agency’s organization and work was published in the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial) today.

The Agency will be created through the transformation of the Sustainable Development Fund from Moldova, with the taking over of the duties from the Moldova’s Waters Agency and the Land Relations and Cadastre Agency. The main tasks of the new Agency include the management of the sector of conservation, improvement and enhancement of soils’ fertility.

The institution will be subordinated to the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry. It will be in charge of implementing the policies in the field of land improvements and of carrying out investment projects in the centralized irrigation systems.

So far, there has been no single central administrative authority in Moldova, with clear-cut duties of implementing policies in the land improvements sector.
