Moldovan PM at European Economic and Social Committee plenary session

Chisinau, July 12. /MOLDPRES/- The role of civil society in Moldova's accession to the EU, as well as the measures to increase the cooperation of the candidate states with the EU member countries were discussed at today's plenary session of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), held in the hybrid format, with the participation of Prime Minister Dorin Recean, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

Recean said that achieving the strategic objective of Moldova's accession to the European Union is a joint task of the authorities, citizens and civil society. At the same time, he spoke about the progress made in implementing the nine recommendations of the European Commission and reiterated the firm determination of the Executive to continue the reforms for the benefit of the citizens.

"We treat the status of a candidate country for EU accession with great responsibility. In this process, the cooperation of all members of society is essential. At the same time, in addition to the ambitious reform agenda, we established a national plan European Moldova, in which we identified 20 priority actions for the development of the Republic of Moldova", said Recean.

New president of the EESC Oliver Röpke presented the initiative to appoint honorary members for expansion within the civil society of EU candidate countries, including Moldova, who will participate in the systematic activity of the Committee.
