DOC Regulation on coverage of elections by media institutions published in Official Journal

Chisinau, 4 Aug. /MOLDPRES/- Regulation on coverage of the elections by media institutions was published in the Official Journal today.

The regulation applies to media institutions covering parliamentary, presidential, local, regional, new and partial elections, referenda, except for those founded by political parties.

The document sets out the rights, obligations, as well as the status of the persons involved in the process of coverage of the elections by the media institutions, so as to ensure the complex, objective and truthful information of the public on the entire electoral process through the media institutions.

The regulation sees that in the process of covering the elections, media institutions have the obligation to respect the principles of equity, balance and impartiality.

The CEC ruling for the approval of the Regulation on the coverage of the elections by media institutions enters into force today, with the publication in the Official Journal.

On November 5, general local elections will be held in the Republic of Moldova. The CEC announced that the electoral period for the autumn polls begins on August 7.
